Current Services

We offer several services through our center to provide the most comprehensive assistance to possible to those children in need.

Victim Services

The Victim Services Program coordinates the investigations and prosecutions of child abuse cases including sexual abuse as well as severe physical abuse. The Victim Services Program coordinates the multi-disciplinary team response to these cases by coordinating victim-sensitive interviews, pre- and post-interview team staffings, conducting follow-up case reviews and entering case information into a state-of-the-art computerized case tracking system. Follow-up contact and legal advocacy are also provided.

Crisis Intervention

The Crisis Intervention Program is staffed with two therapists that are available on-site at Carrie Lynn Children’s Center to respond to the interim needs of the children and their families. The Crisis Therapist offers five free sessions to the victims and assists the families in arranging long-term linage to counseling services.

Children's Medical Site

The Carrie Lynn Children’s Center Medical Site began serving child victims of sexual abuse in 1995. Medical Services have been more formalized within the past two years and are now under the umbrella of the MERIT Program (Medical Evaluation Response Initiative Team).

Consultation Team

The Consultation Team is a group of therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists, pediatricians, and attorneys who volunteer their time to assist case workers, investigators, therapists, state’s attorney’s or any other professional involved with a child abuse/neglect case.

Community Education

The Carrie Lynn Children’s Center offers personal safety programs (sexual abuse prevention) and informational presentations on the dynamics of sexual abuse for children in the classroom settings. We also provide training to parents, educators, and other professionals covering indicators of abuse, handling disclosures, mandated reporting and the role of the center.
